15th December 2009

MANGAN (Fountainstown, Co. Cork and formerly of Salford) Dec. 15, 2009, (unexpectedly), at her residence, Muriel (Mu), (nee Backhouse), beloved wife of James and loving mother of Adam, sister of Barbara and Ted; will also be sadly missed by Auntie Edith, Emma, Jan and Brian, Ann, Colette, Helen, family and friends. Funeral took place yesterday (Friday).

    Dear James and Adam,

    You do not know me but my mother, Sue Gow, knew Muriel very well from a strong friendship they made in Australia. Sue kept in touch with Muriel until she passed away in 1993. I have been having an afternoon tidying up the study and came across mum's address book which made me think of Muriel so I googled the name and was surprised to find this notice. I am so very sorry for your sad loss and I know from reading these letters from Muriel that she loved you both so very much.
