Michaela Davis was about to embark on the next big adventure in life, starting secondary school and entering her teenage years. Instead, the devastated family and friends of 12- year-old Dubliner Michaela Davis are left to grieve the loss of their beloved girl and ponder the future that could - and should - have been.
Last Thursday was a flurry of excitement as Michaela had her first introductory day at Luttrellstown Community College. Michaela had made her Confirmation in May and finished primary school a month later.
One school friend described Michaela as "sound, so funny". Another friend, Triona Priestly, posted on a Facebook tribute page: "The last conversation I had with her was the day after our confirmation. It never crossed my mind that that was the last conversation that I would EVER have with Michaela. "May her soul rest peacefully. Goodbye Michaela, you'll never be forgotten."
The family of Michaela Davis issued a statement in memory of their daughter. "This is a heart-wrenching situation," the family said. "A young 12-year-old girl who was full of life has been lost. She was very close to her mum, dad and brother Brendan. They were always there for one another. "Michaela had started her first day of secondary school on Thursday last. She was given her first homework which was due to be handed in tomorrow, never to be answered."
The Davis family has lived at the family home at The Village, Porterstown, for more than 16 years. "All Michaela's friends are heartbroken at the moment and cannot get their heads around this tragedy, no more than the rest of the extended family and friends."

It is with sorrow that I read your beautiful daughters memorial. Such a cruel and tragic death of one so young. I am so sorry for the pain of grief that your family must bare and wish I had some magic words that could ease your pain. All I have is prayer which I offer in memory of your beautiful Michaela and for her family. May God give your the strength to face each new day without her and may her love and laughter bring tears of joy to your heart and ease your sorrow. May your beautiful angel rest in peace.
